Guard Director - McLean HS

The McLean High School Band Program is seeking applicants for the position of Guard Director.  This is a comprehensive program with great student and parent involvement.  The marching band and two winter guards are highly competitive and are looking to continue to expand their development in this area of visual performance.  The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Creating a student experience that is positive, challenging, and allows for individual growth
Working effectively with administrators at McLean HS and the band staff to create positive opportunities for the students
Developing a fundamental program that gives all students the skills to improve as performers
Developing short-term and long-term goals for the program and implementing the steps necessary for students to achieve
Helping with show design, choreography, uniform design, and visual performance for the entire ensemble
Recruiting for the fall marching season and winter guard season
Managing student/parent communication and schedules
Managing the equipment inventory for guard items
Assisting with booster fundraising efforts
Coordinating with parents in charge of uniforms and fitting
Managing and coordinating a budget for the fall and winter seasons along with the Band Directors and booster representatives
Providing monthly updates to the Band Directors regarding plans, goals, student progress
Representing the school and program in a positive way that fosters good working relationships with band staff, school administrators, and parents
Coordinating schedules and rehearsal planning with other staff members
Other duties, as requested by the band directors
